Admission to the Continuing Education Program

Eligibility

The Continuing Education program is open to any person at least 24 years of age who holds a high school diploma or its equivalent as well as those of any age who have previously completed a bachelor’s degree.

Application

Formal application is not required of Continuing Education students until after they have completed 12 credit hours at Marietta College. However, Continuing Education students who wish to apply for financial aid must complete a Continuing Education application and meet the admission requirements of the College.

Transfer of Credit

Marietta College welcomes students transferring course work from other colleges and universities as well as applicable military training and other forms of Credit for Prior Learning.

Many Continuing Education students include some transfer work as part of their degree program, although prior credit is not required. Credit hours transferred in from an institution following a “quarter” or a “unit” program will be pro-rated to “semester” hours. Details can be obtained from the Records Office. Any transferring student should be aware of the College’s Residency Requirement.

For the associate degree, a minimum of fifteen hours in the major must be taken at Marietta College.

Prospective students are encouraged to make an appointment with the Registrar to discuss questions about the Continuing Education Program. Students who are re-entering college may find it useful to have a review and evaluation of their previous course work. This may also be done as part of the preregistration process each semester.
