Student Complaints
Marietta College Complaint Process
Marietta College students who have a complaint about an academic course or experience should follow the procedures outlined in Academic Grievances.
Policy and process for complaints related to non-academic experiences can be found in the Student Complaint Policy section of the Student Handbook.
Whether academic or non-academic, students should first contact the faculty or staff member with whom there is a concern. Often, these matters may be resolved without formal college action.
Higher Learning Commission Complaint Process
Students may submit a complaint about Marietta College to the accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) through the HLC complaint process at https://www.hlcommission.org/for-students/file-a-complaint-against-an-institution/.
SARA State Complaint Process
Marietta College students enrolled in a course that takes place outside of Ohio, including enrollment in an online course from another SARA state, must first follow the appropriate Marietta College Complaint Process as outlined above. If the complaint is not resolved through the college process to the student's satisfaction, the complaint may be submitted to the Ohio SARA portal entity.
