HIST 102 United States History Since 1877

An introduction to the history of the United States from the end of Reconstruction to the modern day. It is also an introduction to the historian's craft - the challenges of historical analysis, critical thinking, and clear communication. This course will emphasize the social, economic, and political developments that shaped America's adjustments to "modernity," the implications of "globalism," and the maturation of the U.S. as a world power. Intended for students with freshman or sophomore standing.
