PIO-Pioneer Path
Provost and Dean of Faculty: Dr. Suzanne H. Walker
(Suzanne.Walker@marietta.edu)
The Pioneer Path lies at the core of the Marietta College liberal arts philosophy. The Pioneer Path provides a common intellectual experience for students, which has been identified by the American Association of Colleges and Universities as a high impact practice that aids in student learning and success. Marietta College believes an integrated core is a necessary component of the curriculum that will add significant value to the educational experience.
The Pioneer Path courses are required as part of the College’s General Education degree requirements. Once enrolled in PIO 101, WRIT 101 or 102, or COMM 203, these courses cannot be dropped. Transfer students who matriculate at Marietta College with 25 or more transfer credits, excluding credits earned while enrolled in high school, are exempt from the PIO 101 requirement.
