Enrollment Status - Undergraduate
Full-time Enrollment
Full-time enrollment for undergraduate students is defined as at least 12 semester hours and no more than 18 semester hours. The average semester load for the bachelor's degree is 15 hours. This load typically allows students to complete the bachelor's degree within 4 years (8 semesters).
Part-time Enrollment
Part-time enrollment at the undergraduate level is defined as a semester course load of fewer than 12 semester hours. Part-time enrollment is further categorized as three-quarter time (9-11.5 credit hours), half-time (6-8.5 credit hours), or less than half-time (fewer than 6 credit hours).
Part-time students may not participate in intercollegiate sports, outside of select exceptions defined by the NCAA and/or OAC, or certain extracurricular activities and may not affiliate with college fraternities or sororities.
Overloads
Students with a 3.00 or greater cumulative grade point average, or those who can demonstrate a need to do so, may take more than 18 hours with the permission of their academic advisor and the Registrar.
Please consult the section on “Tuition and Fees” for information on costs related to hours in excess of 18 or fewer than 12.
