POLS 330 International Law & Global Governance
Political, economic, and social issues are increasingly transnational, which necessitates the creation and implementation of international institutions to address them. This course investigates the theoretical and political foundations of international law, considers the development, structure, and activities of prominent international organizations, and examines how these international institutions contribute to the governance of a complex global system. By the end of this course, students should be able to (1) describe major concepts and themes related to the study of international relations, (2) examine the complexity of creating and enforcing means of global governance, and (3) evaluate the efficacy of past and current institutions that have aimed to address global political, economic, and social challenges.
