HIST 301 Era of the American Revolutionary War

The period between 1755 and 1815 was a time when strong ideologies about America's future developed and expanded. Studying this era of American history will establish an understanding of the origins of the United States and how the political, cultural, and societal features were carried over from intra-colonial experiences of the Enlightenment and Great Awakening. The events that culminated in the War for Independence, the Constitutional Convention, the New Nation, and the War of 1812 are all covered in great depth. In other words, students will be able to distinguish what was fundamentally durable and what was fleeting about the core beliefs of what it was to be an American in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
