MUSC 110 Fundamentals of Music
An introduction to the basic language and construction of music. This course introduces fundamental aspects of pitch, rhythm, meter, melody, harmony, timbre, texture and form. An understanding of these concepts is developed through the reading of pitches and rhythms on a staff, the examination and construction of intervals, scales, chords, and the composition of simple musical exercises. Students will have the opportunity to practice basic musical skills and to listen to, discuss, and write about music.
