PIO 101 Information Literacy
A topics-based course that introduces information literacy skills that will be reinforced by and built upon in
WRIT 102 and
COMM 203. Topics will vary by instructor but will share the following learning outcomes: recognizing sources of various media; recognizing primary, secondary, and tertiary sources and peer-reviewed sources; evaluating sources for credibility, relevance, and accuracy; understanding plagiarism and academic dishonesty policies; posing appropriate questions that will develop deeper understanding of course content; demonstrating the ability to engage in thoughtful, respectful academic-level discussions.
