POLS 420 Scope of Political Science
This course serves as a culmination of the political science major and aims to tie together conceptual, theoretical, and applied efforts from prior coursework in the discipline. This course emphasizes the role of research in political science by requiring students to create and refine an original research project. Experiencing the research
process firsthand serves to enhance students’ skills related to scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and empirical analysis. Specifically, conducting research provides students with an opportunity to develop proficiency in quantitative data management and analysis, which are valuable skills within the discipline of political sciences as well as the contemporary job market.
