Admission Decision Status

Regular Admission
Regular admission status identifies newly admitted students who have met the minimum admission standards at the time of application. In instances when admitted degree-seeking applicants have not yet earned their high school diploma or were participating in college-level courses, a final official transcript is required to be received by the Admissions Office by the mid-point of their first term of enrollment at Marietta College (MC) or they risk the ability to continue their enrollment in any future term at MC.

Denial of Admission
A denial determination means the applicant has been denied admission to the College. A denial decision may be due to the applicant having an academic profile that, based on historical trends, does not suggest the candidate could successfully navigate the rigor of our curriculum, has a weak academic profile in comparison to the larger applicant pool, did not meet the minimum standards of the program, or academic and enrollment leadership concur that the applicants history does not align with our mission or standards of conduct.

Candidates who are denied admission to the College are permitted to reapply. Candidates who have previously been dismissed from the College for disciplinary reasons must have completed all sanctions and must not have any criminal charges pending to be eligible for readmission consideration.

Deferred Admission
Candidates offered admission may request a deferral to a future term in instances when the applicant has extenuating circumstances related to a health or family emergency, or financial hardship that would prevent their ability to start in the term originally offered for admission. Requests for deferral should be sent to the Director of Admissions along with supporting documentation for review and consideration. Deferral is not guaranteed. If approved, the applicant may defer matriculation up to a maximum of two semesters, excluding summer terms.

Rescinded Admission
Should the College rescind a candidate’s offer of admission due to applicant misinformation or failure to disclose previous disciplinary and/or criminal activity, the candidate may reapply to a future term unless the admission decision is deemed final with no opportunity to reapply.
