EDUC 634 Language & Literacy Development

This course is an in depth study of the, development of language as the foundation of, literacy, from birth through school age. It, includes an examination of the foundational, components of language and literacy instruction,, referred to as Emergent Literacy through Early, Literacy, concluding with a deep analysis of the, structure of the English language that should be, taught in conventional through adolescent, literacy. The focus is on all components, or, layers, of language, including phonology,, orthography, morphology, semantics, and syntax,, with additional emphasis on the syntactic and, semantic components of language.
